Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for Your Horse at Forward Equine
At Forward Equine, we are proud to offer a wide range of rehabilitation services designed to meet the unique needs of your horse. Rehabilitation therapy is a highly personalized process, tailored to each horse’s specific condition and goals.
We are well versed at designing rehabilitation programs for horses recovering from musculoskeletal injuries as well as equine athletes looking to stay at the top of their game.
The foundation of any effective rehabilitation program begins with a thorough exam, where we carefully assess your horse’s strengths, weaknesses, areas of pain, reduced flexibility, and any other underlying issues. Our Certified Equine Rehabilitation Practitioner then creates a customized plan of exercises and stretches to address these specific concerns, much like physical therapy for humans.
Tailored Treatment Options
In addition to prescribed exercises, we may recommend further treatments to help your horse recover as efficiently as possible. These therapies are designed to expedite healing and reduce discomfort, and include:
-
Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy (VSMT)
-
ExtracorporealShockwave Therapy
-
Laser Therapy
-
Intralesional Injections

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy
What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy uses high-intensity sound waves to stimulate healing, and it’s both effective and non-invasive. Despite the name, there is no actual "shock" involved—it’s a gentle process. The focused sound waves encourage the horse’s body to release growth factors, increase blood flow to the affected area, and reduce pain, all without causing discomfort to the patient.
One of the significant benefits of shockwave therapy is that it enhances the quality of the healing process. Injuries often heal but may not return to their original strength, especially in tendons and ligaments. Shockwave therapy promotes better blood flow and tissue regeneration, reducing the formation of scar tissue and the likelihood of re-injury.
Why We Use PiezoWaveVet Technology
At Forward Equine, we use the PiezoWaveVet machine, which is quiet and does not require sedation. This allows us to target specific areas with pinpoint accuracy, giving your horse the best chance for a full recovery, without unnecessary stress or discomfort.
